The Equipment

 

As a long-time fan of the Lake District and of John Ruskin's work, I rather like this quote, which in the context of long distance cycle touring couldn't be more apposite:

"Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness."

There is a great freedom to be had on the open road, with very little luggage about the bike or person, but clearly on an expedition of any length it is necessary to be prepared. To this end, here is a list of everything we'll be taking with us.
